I must've missed the memo but, evidently, basil is the new thing to be making caipirinhas with. (Just don't tell the caipirinha police, I guess.)
This time, the American Feast blog discovers New York's Jumeirah Essex House (154 Central Park South near 7th) and their variation on the Brazilian classic, the Strawberry fields basil caipirinha.
Strawberry Fields Basil Caipirinha
- 2 Ounces cachaça
- 1½ ounces Les vergers Boiron strawberry puree mixed with basil
- 1 ounce lime juice
- 1 ounce simple syrup
Shake ingredients with ice and pour into a rocks glass. Garnish with strawberry or lime.
I had one of these at the Charthouse Restaurant in Annapolis, MD and fell in love, thanks for the recipe, I'm gonna try to make it at home and see if I do it justice!
