The Intoxicologist says that August 3rd was National Watermelon Day. Here's proof that she's not making it up.
Here are two cocktails, featuring two different cachaças.
Barefoot Brazilian
The Barefoot Brazilian is not only meant for two to share, but comes across fresh and flavorful with light and refreshing bubbles tippling at the nose for imbibers wishing for a sophisticated and entertaining time to share.
- 3 Watermelon Chunks (approx. 1-1/2 inch chunks)
- 1/4 ounce Peach Schnapps
- 2 ounces Boca Loca cachaça
- Barefoot Bubbly Chardonnay Champagne
Muddle watermelon and peach schnapps in a cocktail shaker. Add Boca Loca cachaça and ice. Shake to chill. Strain contents between two champagne glasses. Top with champagne.
Watermelon Smash
Taking a sip of the Watermelon Smash may turn you on to cachaça. This cocktail is like taking a bite of the freshest, juiciest, ripest watermelon one could ever hope to find. Leblon cachaça has mastered the cocktail with its sweet, yet not overly sugary taste. The flavor rolls over the tongue in a way that makes one want to keep sipping and then it’s time to make another…responsibly of course!
- 1-1/2 ounce Leblon cachaça
- 1/2 ounce Lemoncello
- 1 Tablespoon Superfine Sugar or 1/2 ounce Simple Syrup
- 3 Pieces of Watermelon
Muddle watermelon and sugar in a shaker. Add Leblon cachaça, Lemoncello and ice. Shake vigorously and pour into a rocks glass. Garnish with a slice of watermelon.
