So, last week I blasted out a note to all of my contacts within the cachaça industry: "What are you planning around Carnaval?"
Here's the resulting rundown of events after the jump.

- 1:00 am: Samba Nation rhythm & dance show
Guapiara
Guapiara is co-sponsoring the 2009 Carnival/Mardi Gras celebration in Honolulu on February 24, with the festivities starting at 6pm. (As is Leblon, see below.) Shannon Mitchell at The Executive Conextion, Guapiara's importer, tells me:
The parade begins at Aloha Tower and will move into the lower Chinatown district coming to rest in the heart of the block party where the partying will escalate to an all out celebration.
Guapiara will have a Caipirinha tent focused on the production and sales of Caipirinhas made with Guapiara Premium Silver Cachaca.
There are three bars within the radius of the block party where you can try the Cachaçagora-taste-test-winning Guapiara Silver in a caipirinha and various specialty cocktails:
Here's the flyer for the party at The Loft:

Saturno Spirit
The folks at Saturno have a couple of treats for those of you in Australia. (You are my fourth largest audience by geography, after all, behind the U.S., Brazil, and the U.K.) First off, they are co-sponsoring a night of Brazilian dance and drumming courtesy of the Melbourne Samba School on Saturday, February 28, at the... ummm... Czech House (497 Queensberry St, Nth Melbourne). There will also DJ'ing by Carlos da Vila.
Saturno is also heavily involved with the Moomba Festival:
They promise Brazilian drumming up until the fireworks show, and Saturno caipirinhas all night.
That's it! This is by no means an exhaustive list. These are just the folks who got back to me. I'm sure you can find Carnaval fun wherever you are. *8-)
